The experienced Slovenian goalkeeper has signed a contract for the upcoming season, with an option for an additional year.

Aljaž Ivačič will remain part of DAC for the new campaign. The 32-year-old Slovenian goalkeeper has signed a one-year contract with our club, with the agreement including an option for a further season.

Ivačič arrived at Žitný ostrov in February 2025. However, health issues disrupted his plans during the spring, preventing him from making a competitive appearance in our colours. Despite that, both parties agreed to continue their cooperation.

Born in Ljubljana on 29 December 1993, Ivačič brings extensive experience from both Slovenian and American football. During his career, he has played for clubs including NK Domžale and NK Olimpija Ljubljana, as well as in Major League Soccer, where he represented Portland Timbers and New England Revolution.

“I am very happy that the club offered me the opportunity to continue here. During the spring, the team welcomed me in the best possible way, and from the very beginning I wanted to stay. In football, however, you never know how things will develop. That is why I am even happier to be back. I am here to help the team achieve success. I know this club wants to win, and I believe I am the right type of player to help both the team and my teammates,” said Aljaž Ivačič after signing his new contract.

The environment he got to know during the spring also played an important role in his decision to remain at DAC. “Goalkeeping coach Pavol Hrnčiarik played a very important role and was one of the reasons why I wanted to come back. Of course, my teammates and the overall environment at the club were equally important. There were many factors that influenced my decision, and I feel really good at DAC.”

The Slovenian goalkeeper also believes that the upcoming period will be more successful from a health perspective than his first spell at the club. “First of all, I want to stay healthy. When I arrived here, I was unfortunate with injury. My goal is to be available for the team and help it achieve all of its ambitions. I want to win. In the end, people only remember the winners, so I want to win everything we compete for with DAC,” added the determined 188-centimetre-tall Slovenian.

“Over the past months, we have come to know Aljaž not only as an experienced goalkeeper, but also as a true professional with excellent character and attitude. Although an injury prevented him from fully demonstrating his qualities on the pitch, he consistently showed his level and determination in his daily work. We believe that after completing the summer preparation period, he is ready to help the team and increase competition in the goalkeeping department. We are pleased to have reached an agreement to continue our cooperation and wish him every success at our club,” said DAC Sporting Director Jan-Pieter Martens.
